Viewing Client History and Value
Every client detail page shows you a complete picture of your working relationship, including all projects, their status, and the total value of work you’ve done together.
What You’ll Learn
- Understanding client statistics
- Viewing project history
- Tracking lifetime value
- Creating new projects for existing clients
Client Statistics
When you open a client’s profile, you’ll see key stats at a glance:
Projects Count
The number of projects linked to this client. This includes projects in any status: draft, in progress, completed, or closed.
Total Value
The combined value of all estimates for this client’s projects. This represents the total dollar amount of work you’ve quoted or completed.
This number helps you:
- Identify your best customers
- Track client relationships over time
- Make decisions about pricing and priority
Project History Table
Below the statistics, you’ll see a table listing every project for this client:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Project Name | The name of the project (click to open it) |
| Status | Current project status (draft, active, completed, etc.) |
| Value | Total estimate value for this project |
| Updated | When the project was last modified |
Projects are sorted by most recent activity, so the work you’re doing now shows up first.
Creating a New Project
You can start a new project directly from the client page:
- Click the New Project button in the Projects section
- Tallie creates a project already linked to this client
- The project name includes the client name and a number (e.g., “John Smith - Project 3”)
- You’re taken to the project page to add details
This saves time compared to creating a project and then assigning the client separately.
You can also create a project from the client list:
- Click the three dots menu on a client row
- Select Create Project
Understanding Lifetime Value
The “Total Value” stat shows all estimate totals across every project. This is useful for:
- Prioritizing clients - Know who your biggest accounts are
- Relationship building - See the history you have together
- Business insights - Track how client value grows over time
Note that this total comes from estimates, not invoices. It shows quoted work, whether or not it’s been billed or paid.
Client Notes
Use the notes field on each client to record important details:
- How they prefer to be contacted
- Gate codes or access instructions
- Special requirements or preferences
- Referral sources
These notes show on the client detail page for quick reference.
Exporting Client Data
From the main Clients page, click Export CSV to download a spreadsheet with all your clients. The export includes:
- Name
- Phone
- Company
- City
- State
Use this for:
- Backing up your data
- Creating mailing lists
- Moving to another system
- Sharing with your team
Tips
- Review regularly - Check your top clients periodically to make sure they’re getting great service
- Keep notes updated - Add details after each project while they’re fresh
